Jason Nathaniel Marks, 40, is facing fresh charges following his latest arrest following an incident that played out in the early hours of Sunday, Jan. 28.

Officers from the Laurel Police Department were called by a carjacking victim about a stolen vehicle in the area of the 14600 block of Philip Court, officials say. They were able to quickly track down the stolen vehicle, driven by Marks, but when they attempted to stop him, he got out and into a local home, barricading himself inside.

It was quickly determined that Marks had four active warrants out for his arrest on charges that include armed robbery, weapons offenses, and probation violations.

First responders attempted to negotiate with Marks, who refused to respond, forcing officers to evacuate nearby residents out of the building, who were displaced for several hours until Marks relented and surrendered without incident.

Marks was arrested and taken to the Department of Corrections, where he is facing multiple charges from the incident including possession of a controlled dangerous substance, motor vehicle theft, and malicious destruction of property, as well as being served with the four open arrest warrants.
